History: Wake County Parks & Recreation hosts Heriage Day each year on the first Saturday in October at Historic Oak View County Park.

Capital Quilters’ Guild (CQG) members have participated in Heritage Day by demonstrating hand quilting for many years.

Beginning in 2008, the Capital Quilters’ Guild began an annual fund raising event.  The Heritage Day Quilt Auction event has three (3) components:

  • Sales of Raffle Tickets for a chance to win the Heritage Day Raffle Quilt (in the months leading up to Heritage Day)
  • Boutique Sales of small quilted and craft items prior to the live auction (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Farm House)
  • Live Auction of Quilts crafted and donated by Capital Quilters’ Guild members (Starts at 2 p.m.)

CQG selects a Charity Partner to share in the net proceeds for the Heritage Day events.  Our partner works with the Heritage Day Quilt Auction team to advertise Heritage Day to the community at large.  As a team, CQG and our Charity Partner help to draw interest in participating in Heritage Day.

The 2011 Charity Partner for the Heritage Day Quilt Auction events is:
