Painted Face for Beginner

Yes you can!!! A guideline drawing under your fabric makes positioning features easy. By the end of the class you will have a painted face ready for the addition of hair and clothing. Once you learn this technique you will be able to paint your own choice of faces - family & friends. Combine this class with the “Fantasy Fabric Sampler” workshop and you will be able tocomplete a Painted Face design with hair and clothing.

Fabric Collage

There are as many ways to do fabric collage as there are people doing it. Come explore some of the possibilities of this exciting fabric work where there are no rules. Whether for wearables or wall hangings, this is a fun technique that will expand the possibilities of your creative work. This course is structured to allow for either sampling the various techniques or beginning work on a project of the student's choosing.

Shattered Circles

Elegant, exciting results from an easy-to-master technique. We'll start with a simple circle and dissect and separate it into seemingly unrelated pieces, then reassemble to create something new and different.

Marti Mitchell- Atlanta, GA

Friday, January 20
Fat Quarter Log Cabin

Unlike scrap Log Cabin quilts that  feature a different fabric in every strip of a block, this scrap Log Cabin quilt depends on orderly repetition of fabrics within each block. Learn a great method for cutting and sewing that makes these blocks fast and, better yet, square. The four blocks you make in class can be the start of a big quilt or a very satisfactory wallhanging approximately 30” square.

Not Your Grandmother's Hexagons

Not Your Grandmother’s Hexagons is designed to encourage and enable you to include hexagon quilts in your quiltmaking repertoire. To cover more territory with fewer pieces, the hexagon we will use is almost as big as an 8 ½” by 11” standard size piece of paper. Coincidentally, that size is perfect for showcasing big beautiful fabric designs. (Everything we talk about can be applied to any size hexagon so if big hexagons aren’t your thing, come along and work on smaller sizes.)
