Pick out a white fabric for one half of the half-square triangle and another color that coordinates with the Block Party fabric.

  • Cut one of your block party strips into one (1) 3 1/2 X 12 1/2 inches.
  • Cut the other of your block party strips into two (2) 3 1/2 X 5 inches.
  • Cut two (2) 5 1/2 inch blocks from your white fabric.
  • Cut two (2) 5 1/2 inch blocks from your other stash fabric.
  • Place the white squares right sides together with your stash squares.
  • Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the white fabric (solid line in diagram).
  • Sew 1/4 inch from each side of the drawn line (dotted lines in diagram).
  • Cut the squares apart on the drawn line to get 2 half-square triangles.
  • Press the seam to the darker color and trim all 4 half-square triangles to 5 inches.
  • Place the blocks like the diagram below.
  • Sew the blocks together with a 1/4 inch seam for a block measuring 12 1/2 inches.
