2026-2027 President's Challenge

TRIANGLES!

This year the President’s Challenge theme is TRIANGLES.  When I ran the idea by my Loose Threads bee friends, they were very enthusiastic so I hope you will be too.

Why triangles?  Well, the first and most obvious reason...we live in the Triangle!  Secondly, I was hoping to make the theme interesting to quilters of all persuasions.  Art and modern quilters as well as more traditional minded quilters.

So…  Your quilt must feature triangles.  Lots of triangles.  Or be triangle shaped maybe?  Either way, your creation needs to be heavy on triangles.  Any type of triangles.  Scalene, Isosceles, or Equilateral.  Acute, Obtuse, or Right.  (I had to look that up! )   In quilter’s terms – half-square, split-half-square, quarter-square, flying geese, wonky, etc., etc., etc.

The Rules

* The finished quilt must have a maximum perimeter of 96 inches.  Exact size and shape are up to you as long as you don’t exceed the maximum.  Surprise me!

* All quilts must satisfy the requirements as set forth by the 2027 Quilt Show Rules, which includes a sleeve, and that to be eligible for judging, quilting must be seen on the back of the quilt.

* Quilts will be due by the 2027 Capital Quilters Quilt Show Entry Deadline. Exact due dates will be published once the quilt show committee announces them. Please know that having your project judged is optional. Please feel free participate within the category as a non-judged quilt if you like. However, all non-judged quilts must also be registered by the quilt show entry deadline.

* Participation is for 2026-2027 Capital Quilt Guild Members only.
